We are sad to announce the death of Paul Miller, one of the original Board members of Plastics Recycling of Kansas, Inc. (PRo Kansas Recycling). Margaret Miller and Paul Miller were at the front of Environmental efforts in Wichita for at least 50 years. Their favorite cause was recycling. They headed organizations like Citizens for Recycling and the Waste Control and Recycling Coalition, were members of the Sierra Club and various other State and Local committees and groups.
Some of Wichita’s first significant recycling efforts were engineered by Margaret and Paul.
By the time I met these two, at a community meeting to discuss reorganizing or revitalizing a failing recycling company, they were in their 80’s and starting to slow down a little … just a little. They still had the energy to participate in the birthing of PRo Kansas in 2001.
When we opened PRo Kansas Miller Recycling center in 2004, we put the Millers name on it to honor their years of dedication to the environment. Both of them participated on our Board and volunteered at the recycling center as long as they were physically able.
Margaret died August 30, 2017 at the age of 98. Paul died at the beginning of this year, New Year’s Day. He was two days from his 103rd birthday.
Paul and Margaret, thanks for all your help! We miss you both. We owe you much!
Mike Hastings, President

You Can Donate Directly to PRo Kansas Recycling Center
PRo Kansas Recycling Center is the region’s largest and most comprehensive non-profit recycling facility and has steadily grown in importance to the community. Well over 2000 customers visit the Center every Month.
But, we face challenges due to major changes in the recycling market. In previous years, income from the sale of recycled materials covered all Center expenses. But China’s exit from much of the recycling market and the current lack of capacity in the U.S. have depressed prices for recycled materials by 50% to 90%.
